feeling you fade
please, take your hands and hold the evening still, hold everything still so it doesn't run passed my eyelashes or parted lips like the breeze sucking away all life as it curls into the atmosphere.
please, stop my tears, catch them before they run out of skin to bleed on.
someone help me.

shove something in my mouth and let my teeth grip onto it, my sobs sink into it so no one can hear. shut off the lights and let me fall away, disintegrate into something like sea salt or leaves flying through the air.

I tripped over your memory today
It haunts the ground I walk on
I found myself falling into open arms
Remembered your voice as it called my name
I walked into a wall today
Pressed my nose against the glass
I remember revolving doors
And how you stopped one in its tracks
I fell down the stairs today
And nearly twisted my left knee
And I remember how all the times you loved me
You never saw me hurt
I paced around my room today
Remembering our first phone call

We're only human. Sad but true. We say, I'll never forget you. But in the end, we all do. And i'm sorry to the friend I lost all those years ago because of my silly mistake. And i'm sorry to the girl that i'll never see again. I wish things had turned out differently.
