Literature Text

I'm sitting here, watching my daughter play in her Exersaucer, she is having a blast, making noise, shrieking, laughing insanely, and I simply think, "God, I LOVE this child".

Now, you would think that's normal, she is after all, my daughter, but I thought I would explain WHY in detailed terms, because I want to, and to remind other parents why their children are so precious.

I love her laughter, it lifts me up, it forces me to laugh with her.

I love her smile, when she smiles, you kinda have to smile back, you can't help it.

I love it when she goes "Arrrrrhhhh", just like a pirate, it's one of the funniest things I've ever heard.

I love how she watches sports with me, and NCIS, those are the only things on TV that keep her attention.

I love how she lets daddy sleep late and rest, even though she is already awake, and her diaper is dirty. Most babies scream about that, but not her.

I love how well behaved she is, I've never known a baby to be this quiet.

I love how she giggles when we play.

I love how she grabs my hair and screams with delight.

I love how she watches the cats, with a look that just screams "IM GONNA GIT JOOOOOO!!"

I love how she has her mommy's eyes, but my facial expressions.

I love the fact that she LIKES cats.

I love how gentle she is with them, most babies tend to be a bit aggressive with cats, if they like them at all.

I love to watch her wiggle and dance while we listen to music.

I love that she LOVES music.

I love that she loves MY music.

I love the "diaper wars" that we have, as she intently tries to avoid getting a new one put on her.

I love the "tongue wars" where she either tries to grab mine, or she blows raspberries at me with hers. It's cute, trust me.

I love to watch her grow. She gets even more beautiful every day.

I love to watch her learn. She is already showing that she is very smart.

I love how she can already amuse herself for long periods of time, making it easier on me.

I love how she is trying to walk. She laughs because it, like everything, is so much fun, and so new to her.

I love how she slides around like a snake.

I love how she seems to know that daddy isn't like most people, and that he can't handle a crazy baby, I don't know how she knows, but she does.

I love how she loves me, I see it every single time she hears my voice or looks at me. It is a thrill, I assure you.

I love her because for the first time in my life, someone who shares my blood is actually with me, it's never happened before, I am moved to tears when I realize just what she represents.

I love her because she is here, she almost wasn't, and her mommy and I worried for months that she wouldn't be born.

I love her because after everything that happened, against all the odds, she was born 100 percent healthy. She really shouldn't have been.

I love her because she is even more proof to me that miracles do happen.

I love her because I HAVE to, I can't help, I have no control over it.

I love her because she is my daughter, mine, my own flesh and blood. And even without all the other reasons, reasons that will continue to grow every day of my life, and hers, that is reason enough.

I love her because I am her father, I always will be.

I truly CANNOT understand how someone could not love their child. Our children are part of us.

They ARE us.

She is my daughter, and I love her. And teaching her to love herself and others is a task I am most suited for.

I love everyone, in my own way, but I promise you, I love her even more.

I have my miracle, her name is Taylor Alexis, what is yours?
