I am not Superman. I'm not. I can't leap tall buildings in a single bound, I can't leap them at all. In fact, I'm not even able to leap period.

I am not faster than a speeding bullet. I know. I've seen the bullets fly far more often than anyone should have to. I'm not even faster than your average person, not anymore, I'm no longer able to run.

I am not stronger than a train, I never have been. Now, it hurts me to just lift my daughter, and she only weighs 14 pounds. I'm not even supposed to lift her. What I do have is inner strength, strength of spirit. I believe that if I truly want something bad enough, I will be able to get it, to do it. I do not believe in failure, only various degrees of success.

You only fail when you stop trying.

Unlike Superman, I have my limits, and while I do try to exceed them as often as I can, I know them, I understand them, and I accept them for what they are.

But think about this: What is it that makes Superman so super? It's not all those superhuman qualities he has, it's his heart, it's his willingness to use those abilities to help others.

I may not be Superman, but my heart is just as strong as his. I too do what I can to make the world a better place. I teach, help, and listen to those around me. I try to not be a problem, instead, I try to find solutions to the problems we already have.

We don't love Superman for what he is, we love him for who he is, and what he does. He saves whole nations, he saves the world, in him, we place the best qualities we can think of, qualities we wish we had.

I am not Superman, but I will never be able to convince my daughter of this, after all, isn't every dad Superman?

I am not Superman, but I am a super man. I seek out answers, I am a friend for all who need, and I will do anything I can to help those friends, just like he would.

So maybe, maybe I'm wrong, maybe I really AM Superman, maybe he is in ALL of us, just waiting to get out, to change the world.

See, that's what makes us, as human beings, different from everything else we've encountered: In each of us resides the power to change, for better or for worse, the world around us.

I believe that we change the world with every action that we take, whether good or bad. I try to change the world, make it a little better, one person at a time. Why do I do this?

Because I CAN.

Maybe, just maybe, somewhere inside, we are ALL Superman.

Now imagine, for a moment, what you can accomplish with the super man, woman, or child, in you.

Destiny waits for no-one, the future is not written in stone, why not make it a bright future, worthy of the one we call Superman?

I BELIEVE we can do it, just like he does.

The Super-Man (originally Uber-Mensch, more correctly translated as 'Over-Man'. Literally, the concept of the next stage of human being. Someone who is better in every way than the normal human, who improves the world, and is the shining pinnacle of humanity. There are some negative connotations to the original term, but essentially it means that we can either conform to no ambitions, to do nothing... or always strive to be greater.
