Peace,
Is often gained only,
By denying that which one loves
It is a contradiction in terms,
Of that which is life
When one is:
SpinningSpirallingOutOfControl
InACycloneOfEmotionThatRagesUnchecked
One can only rise,
By falling
Choices,
Feel inflicted,
Rather than chosen
Tempted, seduced,
We lie awake,
As precious sleep eludes
BurningAndYearningAlwaysLearningMore
About who we are,
And who we might one day
Be
Emotion and logic battle,
To see which one will remain
Supreme
The impasse leaves us glaring,
At our fables of self-reliance
As we soundlessly scream
Balance, somehow,
Must be achieved
But oddly enough,
For one to find balance,
They first must:
BelieveThatTheyCan
And let go

i call this a heptahedron.
i'm nothing but a washed up cliché
with pages of poetry locked behind my eyes
and forced under my damaged fingernails.
skin is my canvas, an empty slate,
and i'm painting stars in colors that do not have
names; colors that only exist in my mind.
every day is a wait for 11:11 and the opportunity
to discuss my darkest secrets with four-leaved clovers
and moving lights in the night sky.
i'm dancing on the tips of my toes
to avoid stepping on cracks in the pavement
and killing a family of ants.
i spend afternoons making up religions
and teaching them to my stuffed animals

Give Me Hope
She was the girl with the water-logged ears and the muddled eyes, always squinting against the sunlight. She was the girl who told him that it wasn't that hard to swim, that he just had to jump in and do it. Ignore the obstacles; if you turn this way or the other, they won't be there anymore, she said. She also said she could find it in herself to fight the obstacles for him, if need be.
Now, which one is the lie?
He was the boy with the calloused fingers that somehow always seemed to be wrapped around hers, and every once in a while he would press his forehead to hers. To shade you from th

Fear and Hope
I prepare for the worst,
but hope for the best.
I prepared for the news,
but hoped it was not true.
I prepare the shrouds,
but hope she'll not need them.
I prepare the phone tree,
but hope I'll not have to call.
I've prepared the songs,
but hope I'll not need to sing.
I've accepted that she's made her peace,
but I still hope she'll never just give up.
I know I may never see her again,
but I hope to hold her one last time.
I know I may not get to kiss her again,
but I hope to stroke her cheek.
I know how brave she really is,
but I hoped she'd not have to prove it.
This is how my people, my family,

Life is a see-saw, always flowing one way, then another.
And we have to ride, or die.
And we have to ride, or die.
Without a doubt, one of my best conceived and best executed pieces, and, like many of my true "best", it's composition is also profoundly DIFFERENT. I think I do that to ensure that you pay attention.
